About the Event

On 18th October 2024, Non-Malignant organised a Pink Day Photoshoot at VIT Plaza to spread awareness about Breast Cancer.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from hundreds of students and faculty, uniting for a meaningful cause.

Why Pink Day Matters

Every year, 2.3 million women are diagnosed with breast cancer globally.

In India, it is the most common cancer among women, with an incidence of 25.8 per 100,000 women.

Sadly, 50% of cases are diagnosed at advanced stages.

Only 0.1% of women undergo screening for early detection.

Highlights of the day

Over 500+ students pledged their support.

HODs and faculty teams including Dr. Sachin Bojewar, Dr. Varsha Turkar, Prof. Sonali Borkar, Dr. Arun Chavan, and Prof. Anjum Mujawar joined the initiative.

Faculty members including Prof. Geetha Narayanan, Prof. Komal Lawand-Shinde, and others actively participated.

Even campus security teams led by Mr. Gode showed solidarity.

Event Activities

Pledge Ceremony: Over 500 students and faculties wore Pink Ribbons.

Mega Photoshoot: At 1:25 PM, a large photoshoot was held at VIT Plaza.

Drone Photography: Students from the EXTC department used their self-made drone to capture aerial shots.

Creative Support: Vidyalankar Polytechnic students managed the creative segment of the event.

Non-Malignant marked Pink Day at Vidyalankar, symbolising Mumbai’s united fight against breast cancer. The campaign reinforced the importance of awareness, early detection, and solidarity.
